SAN FRANCISCO – October 30, 2019 – The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP), which is a youth development and career awareness arm of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Association, is holding its 28th year Residency Program on the University of California, Berkeley campus this year.
NABA is dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for people of color in the Accounting, Finance, Consulting, Information Technology and other related business professions and was founded in 1969. ACAP was established in 1980 in Seattle, Washington and duplicated in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989.
Bay Area high school students are eligible to apply for this competitive residency year round. Deadline for application submission is early May of each year. Those selected attend a one-week immersive program which includes working through mock business cases, visiting local corporate campuses and discussions around college accounting majors and career paths.  The 2019 program starts Sunday, July 19th. The Residency Program concludes every year with a celebratory banquet; which will be held this year at the Haas School of Business on Friday, July 24th at 6pm.

The Bay Area 2019 Summer Residency Program recognizes those students with a history of academic achievement, attend a local Bay Area high school and come from an ethnic background that is in need of increased representation in the Accounting fields.
